What should you evaluate first?
Start with the part, resin, volume, quality requirements, and project risk. 1. DFM and mold-design capability

Clarify who designs and builds the mold, where machining and EDM are performed, how inserts are tracked, and how the tool is checked before the first trial. Ask how T0/T1 findings are recorded, how steel-safe changes are managed, and who approves the final dimensions and appearance.

Ask how the manufacturer controls incoming resin, first-off samples, process settings, dimensional inspection, visual inspection, and nonconforming parts. Do not assume a certificate or capability claim that has not been verified for the actual site and scope. Request evidence relevant to your part and contract instead of relying on a generic logo.
5. Ownership, transfer, and confidentiality
Tool ownership, storage, access, and transfer should be written into the commercial agreement. Confirm who owns the mold, CAD data, electrode data, inspection records, and approved process settings. Protect confidential product information through the appropriate NDA and data-handling terms.
