Plastic Injection Mold Case Studies and Project Examples
A credible case study should show how a manufacturing decision was made, checked, and verified. This case study center explains the evidence Cavity Mold uses to document injection mold and molded-part work for OEM teams, product engineers, and project managers.
Generic product records are not presented as case studies. A project is published here only when its public record can support the requirements, material, engineering decision, validation method, inspection approach, and verified result without exposing confidential information.

What This Case Study Center Documents
The classifications below are the minimum context a useful project record should make clear. They help a buyer compare engineering scope without treating a generic product description as proof of a specific result.
Material
Resin family, grade, reinforcement, drying or conditioning requirements, and material-related risks.
Mold type
Tool architecture, cavity strategy, inserts, slides, lifters, cooling, and serviceability decisions.
Engineering challenge
The dimensional, cosmetic, functional, shrinkage, warpage, filling, or assembly issue being solved.
Production stage
Prototype, bridge, T1, engineering change, validation build, or repeat production stage.
Process
Injection molding, insert molding, overmolding, secondary operations, inspection, or mold transfer work.
How We Document a Project
A publishable record connects the original requirement to the engineering decision and then to evidence from samples, inspection, or production review. The record also states what is not verified so readers can use it responsibly.
- Project requirement. Define the part function, volume, timing, quality criteria, and delivery context.
- Material. Identify the resin family and publicly supportable grade or reinforcement information.
- Engineering challenge. Explain the dimensional, cosmetic, filling, cooling, shrinkage, or assembly risk.
- DFM decision. Record the design-for-manufacturing finding and why the selected change reduced project risk.
- Mold or production approach. Describe the relevant tool architecture, process route, or handoff decision.
- T1 validation. State what was checked on first samples or an engineering build, when evidence is available.
- Inspection. Identify the measurement method, drawing reference, appearance review, or approval workflow.
- Verified result. Separate measured or approved outcomes from assumptions, and list any project limitations.
Using Project Evidence Responsibly
A case study is useful when it shows the relationship between material behavior, mold design, process control, inspection, and the decision that followed. It should not imply that another part will use the same steel, cavity count, tolerance, cycle, or result. Customer identity, proprietary dimensions, project numbers, and NDA-protected files remain confidential.
If a project record cannot support these points with public evidence, it belongs in an internal engineering conversation rather than on a public case-study page.
